Located in Florida’s Nature Coast region, it lies north of Tampa, east of Hernando Beach, and southwest of Brooksville. Originally a large tract of biodiverse Longleaf Pine and Sand Pine ecosystems, Spring Hill began large-scale development in the 1970s. The modern planned community was founded in 1967 by the Deltona Corporation and the Mackle Brothers. Initially called “Spring Lake” in planning stages, the name was changed to Spring Hill.
